| Mission Statement |
|
Worcester East Middle School will provide each student with a
challenging curriculum tailored to the unique needs of the early
adolescent. By fostering middle school philosophy and implementing
the Carnegie Council Turning Points, the school encourages students
to make connections between the classroom and the community which
will enable them to become "Fit for Life".

| Fit For Life |
In correlation with the health and science focus at North High School,
the Worcester East Middle School theme is "Fit for Life." Efforts have
been made throughout the school to integrate this theme within the
content of the various academic and enrichment subjects.
Special projects, activities, and programs are planned to assist
students in developing the academic, physical, social, and developmental
fitness they will need to realize their potential.
To utilize the valuable resources within the district, Worcester East
Middle has formed a unique collaborative within Worcester State College,
University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Fallon Healthcare System, and
the Massa- chusetts biotechnology companies.
Through this "Fit for Life Collaborative" students work with science and
healthcare professionals, develop career awareness, and make connections
between the classroom and the community.
Also located nearby are the New England Science Center and the Broadmeadow
Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, both of which provide oppor- tunities for unique
learning experiences.
