South High Community School is committed to preparing all students
in our diverse population for rigor in a standards based curriculum
and for success in all future endeavors. Students will demonstrate
effective performance in accordance with citywide expectations and
achieve or exceed proficiency in state or national testing. Students
are acknowledged for academic achievement, participation in community
service, commitment to athletic programs and creativity in artistic
performances.

Students will:
1. Assume responsibility for their learning, achieving at their highest academic level.
2. Write for a wide variety of purposes and audiences in order to communicate information and
ideas effectively.
3. Read, interpret, analyze, and apply knowledge.
4. Become familiar with and apply contemporary technology to achieve curricular goals.
5. Develop an understanding of our multicultural world.
6. Take advantage of opportunities to appreciate the arts.
7. Work as a member of a team.
8. Acquire life skills and an understanding of physical and emotional wellness.

Students will:
1. Volunteer to participate in school and community service activities.
2. Participate in learning experiences that foster career awareness.
3. Identify the culture, political and social structures of the community.
