In light of the January 24 vandalism at Belmont Community School, request that the Administration review the security systems, procedures and protocols in our schools to determine (1) whether the equipment is fully functional and operative, (2) whether the current protocols are sufficient to alert security personnel to an intrusion which has not breached the building envelope in a visible way, and (3) whether security cameras, combined with motion detectors and sound monitoring, are vital for comprehensive and effective building protection.
