Response of the Administration to the following motions made on March 4, 2010:

Request that the Administration hold taking steps to apply for Federal Turnaround Grants until it can get clarification on:
  • the data used by the State to provide assessments of the schools
  • the manner in which the CPI (Composite Performance Index) is calculated
  • the impact of the Turnaround language if the system does not apply for the grant and
  • the impact of decisions made by the Worcester Public Schools relative to the Turnaround Grant and the feasibility of receiving Race to the Top funding.
 
Request that the Administration provide information as to whether the language in the application for a Turnaround Grant will be embedded in all future Federal grants.

Request that the Administration provide a report to include:
  • actions or possible sanctions by the State in the event that the Worcester Public Schools does not apply for the Turnaround Grant and
  • specific guidelines that the Worcester Public Schools must follow if the application for a Turnaround Grant is not submitted.

  Response of the Administration to the request that the Superintendent compile a report in the next 45 – 60 days that inventories the capital needs of all our school buildings. That list should create a priority system for each building.
