| Mission Statement |
The mission of May Street School is to realize an educational
environment where every child is valued and nurtured and experiences
success. We strive to prepare students to become critical thinkers,
lifelong learners, collaborative workers, and responsible young adults
capable of making sound decisions and choices.
May Street School is a community of learners where parents, community,
teachers and students work together to prepare students for the 21st Century.
It is a community that realizes the uniqueness of each child and utilizes a
variety of teaching and learning strategies. Teachers make use of cooperative
learning, thematic instruction, authentic assessment, and the principals of
multimedial learning. Curricula are updated and relevant in order to challenge
and encourage students to be actively engaged in the learning process.
Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to support the learning
process and enable students to develop the skills necessary for functioning
in the world of information. It is a community that develops pride in all of
its students by recognizing, affirming, and celebrating their individual
differences and backgrounds.
