The Jacob Hiatt Magnet School emphasizes an educational philosophy
of excellence in process, content and product, all at appropriate
developmental levels. Hiatt students can excel within a dynamic yet
safe environment, which daily challenges them to reach their highest
academic potential.
The Hiatt staff, with strong parental support, continually explores
and implements the best teaching practices to assure the success of
our students in the 21st. century. Parents and teachers work as partners
in developing a well-disciplined community of learners.
Our school celebrates the varied cultural backgrounds of our children
and encourages them to learn, to participate, and to achieve in an
atmosphere of harmony and understanding.

In the 21st. century of this vibrant, diverse urban community,
we will endeavor to equip our students with the skills they will
need to complete and achieve in our challenging world. Our belief
that all children can learn and grow, and that learning is an
ongoing and important part of life, is central to our vision of education.
As a center of academic excellence, our curriculum will be designed
to motivate and challenge students of all abilities and learning styles.
Our interdisciplinary approach will integrate physical development,
creativity and performance while complementing the core subjects.
We will utilize the newest technologies and state-of -the-art teaching
and assessment techniques to stimulate and insure our students receive
a comprehensive educational experience. Our extended day, modern facility,
progressive teaching techniques, and dedicated professional faculty will
