| Vision Statement |
We, the learning community of Belmont Street School, recognize
that "It takes a village to raise (and educate) a child". We are
committed to the partnerships necessary to developing effective
citizens who are literate, reflective thinkers and doers as well
as effective decision makers and problem solvers. We pledge to
be an active community of learners in which parents, staff,
students and community take pride in uniting to relentlessly work
to prepare all students for living and learning in today’s and
tomorrow’s world. Our school will be the "literacy center" for
the community where:
students and adults are viewed as teachers and learners in a
positive networking and learning
environment for all
all participants are committed to realizing & celebrating each
individual’s potential with appropriate &
intensive education
a network offers relentless support to build resilience in
students and their families
all dimensions of learning are accessed and developed and
our learning is viewed as a lifelong endeavor in which skills
and processes become habits of the mind
for living.
We will offer teaching and learning consistent with student needs
(social, emotional, cultural and developmental) and with the standards
set by the MA Frameworks. Through inclusion, we will strive to
appreciate and maximize the performance of all students (Standard,
Bilingual and Special Needs. We take pride in building upon what
we know; exploring what we need to know; reflecting on what and how
we have learned as well as on how our learning affects our lives.
Curricula Standards, Performance Assessment and Technology will
empower us in our professional development and performance achievements.
Our goals of cooperation and respect, will guide us as we strive to:
Treat others the way we want to be treated...always with dignity,
Achieve the best we can achieve and
