| Indian breads are very different from traditional western bread. You can prepare Indian breads in the tandoor (clay oven), dry roasted, cooked on a griddle, or deep-fried (e.g. puri). They can either be prepared plain like Parantha, Roti or stuffed with savory or sweet filling, or just topped with mouthwatering garnishes. This hands-on class will take you step by step from making the dough to creating many different kinds of breads. The menu consists of, but is not limited to: naan, garlic naan, stuffed bread (potato paratha), fried puffy bread (puri), cabbage and onion bread (gobhi roti), aalo-gobhi or gobhi masala (potato and cauliflower curry) and raita (yogurt and mint relish).
A materials fee of $20.00 (cash only) is payable to the instructor at the class. You will receive handouts of all the recipes that are taught. Please bring an apron and rolling pin to class. Enjoy a wonderful meal at the end of class |
