Interim Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Loughlin, Ed.D.
At the dawn of a new millennium, the Administration of the Worcester Public Schools wishes to thank everyone in the community for their contributions that have benefited the students in our system. Without this continuing interest and support, we could not succeed in our efforts to provide the best education possible in order to prepare the youngsters of today to succeed in the world of tomorrow.

The daily attendance of our students is up at all levels; the dropout rate is down; sports programs have been expanded; our early childhood education program continues to help us prepare children for entrance into kindergarten; school buildings are being refurbished in an orderly and planned sequence, and new

schools are being built to replace some of our aging facilities; our technology plan is being implemented at an accelerated pace; a large number of personnel are taking advantage of excellent staff development offerings; and last, but not least, we have recently welcomed the Vocational School community into our school system.

Education Reform is alive and well in the Worcester Public Schools. The teaching staff is focused to help students achieve at their highest level and the seven curriculum areas are in place to assist us as we prepare our students for the challenges that lie ahead in the 21st century.
